Thrill the World Charlotte is a Volunteer Driven Event and we need your help to reach our 2011 Goals!

Making It A Better Place and the events we host are about so much more than raising funds for charity.  Making a difference is not just giving money to support a cause.  The community needs our time and our hearts. Our mission is to create a culture where volunteerism is second nature, not just a "once in a while" thing. We believe that one person can make a difference and know that it is the little things that matter. Our goal is to encourage and foster a "giving back" mindset.

To quote Mother Teresa,

"I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot;
together we can do great things."

Through Thrill the World Charlotte, we are building a network of people who are committed to making a change. We want to bring together people who will use their strengths and talents for the benefit of our community. We are doing our best to have both 2011 Thrill the World Charlotte events completely volunteer and sponsor driven!  And it starts from the top. None of the Making It A Better Place staff are getting paid or compensated for their involvement.

Students (Middle school, high school & college): If you have an internship or school project that fits with one of our volunteer opportunities, we will work with you and your school to do what it is needed for you to get credit.  We will also write you a letter of reference.  Fabulous community service and experience opportunity.  Minors will need to sign parental consent forms.

Business Owners and Professionals:  If you have a business that offers a service that fits one of our volunteer opportunities, then let's get you set up as one of our event sponsors.  Great exposure for your business. Not only will you have your business listed on our site and event materials, but you will have the opportunity to work first hand with members of the community.  Build relationships for the future.

Communications, Marketing & Promotions

We need help getting and keeping our name in the public. If you can help in any of the following areas, we need you to contact us ASAP!

bullet

Newsletter: We need someone to handle our Newsletter.  We would like someone who is willing receive "data" from other team members and turn it into content for the newsletter and handle our email marketing.  We are using icontact.

bullet

Social Media: We need someone with experience with using social media to get exposure, build and maintain relationship.

bullet

TTW & MIABP Blog:  We have a blog set up using Wordpress and need someone to assist with postings and maintenance.  Blog is currently "something to get up quick" so if you are able to help us format it and set it up better that would be great.  Right now our webmaster is swamped!

bullet

Internet Exposure:  We need someone experienced with press releases, local community websites and any other things that will help increase exposure for Thrill the World.

bullet

Networking: We need people who can reach out to and personally contact other groups, by phone and/or in person, to share information about Thrill the World.  This is not an "internet/email" position.

bullet

News Media:  Have experience and/or connections in print, television or radio media? Then we need you!

Organizing and Planning

There is a lot of work that goes into putting together a major fundraising event like Thrill the World Charlotte. If you can help in any of the following areas, please contact us ASAP!

bullet

Volunteer Coordinator:  We need someone to handle in-coming requests.  You will not be responsible for training or monitoring - we just need someone to help keep track of it all.  You will also be involved with volunteer recognition and appreciation tasks.

bullet

Donations Coordinator:  To start, this person will help us research programs and charities in our community that will be the recipient of the non-cash, donation items. Will help with collection and have the privilege of delivering the items to worthy causes (with help).

bullet

Registration Coordinator:  Keep track of dancer registrations, help with registration kits, organize registration records.

bullet

"Thriller" Dance Instructors: We are going to need help with teaching dance classes in the local community in September and October. You don't have to know the dance now.  We have videos and will train.

bullet

Community Liaison: We need people who can reach out to and personally contact other groups, by phone and/or in person, to share information about Thrill the World.

"If you’re thinking, 'I CAN’T make any difference,' then, sorry, you’re wrong.

There is always something that everyone can do that makes a difference."
